Google drive zips files for download disappear

I've deleted the folder in the files-app, made a new folder with the same name, and copied files from the download- folder into the drive folder (with the files-app).

I download 1 large folder 10 GB from Google Drive but it becomes several zipped files. I would like to combine the downloaded split zipped files from Google Drive with its original folder and sub-folder structure. When I open my Google Drive, my files and folders flash for a second and then disappear. Then two items reappear, but the rest do not. I have tried several times completely closing the app and reopening, but that has not worked.
